About

A three-day intensive programme for the pioneers of tomorrow

Future Thought Leaders is an intensive three-day residential programme bringing together 16-18 year olds with academics and industry leaders to think collaboratively about tomorrow’s global problems. It is timed to maximise the benefit to students applying for university entry from 2025 onwards.

An intensive programme

Learning and discussion will take place in workshop-style settings, with delegates hearing from leading experts before collaborating on practical tasks based on real-world scenarios. These workshops have been designed to help young people develop a thought-leader mindset and apply it to the challenges their generation will face. Each day will look at a cluster of issues grouped together under three key themes: society, economy, and humanity.

The demanding academic programme will be broken up with outdoor breaks, walks in the grounds, and evening activities.

An ethical vision

True leaders put values at the centre of everything they do. But leadership also involves shaping and reshaping our values in new situations. For example, we look to leaders to tell us what the value of privacy looks like in an increasingly connected world, or what individual liberty looks like in a virtual space.

By grappling with these kinds of questions, delegates will be prepared to put forward their own vision for how to promote our most deeply held values in an uncertain future.

Who should apply?

Ambitious Year 11, Year 12, or Year 13 students.
You do not need to want to “change the world”, but you should have a genuine desire to improve the way things are done in your chosen field. Delegates are expected to:-

  • Take an active interest in current affairs

  • Enjoy learning for its own sake

  • Be considering a leadership career
